The nursery building, which was originally a barn, has been converted to provide the ideal environment for babies and children.

The ground floor has been divided to provide five key rooms; these are a baby unit and sleep room, two toddler rooms and a pre-school room, with all the rooms being on the ground floor accessibility is easy for all. The warm homely environment creates the right atmosphere for children to relax, be confident and happy, therefore enabling children to reach their full potential.

The rural location of our nursery allows children to enjoy the beautiful setting whilst engaging in play.

There is plenty of outdoor space to explore, with an area for bikes, cars and climbing as well as area’s for drawing, reading, messy play and building. The children are surrounded by plants, which stimulate their senses. They are encouraged to care, and grow their own plants which helps to develop an appreciation of the natural world. As well as a delightful garden the nursery also has two fields where the nursery chickens live. The children make very good use of this space all year round from nature walks to sports events in summer.

The staff at Woodend are selected to provide a caring and nourishing environment. All our staff have experience and are very committed to providing the highest quality care to the children. They understand and give individual needs to the children. We use a key person system in the nursery to provide continuity for the child and a point of reference for parents and carers.

We believe strong links between staff and parents are vital in providing for each child’s individual needs. The key person is able to give verbal feedback and keep parents up to date with their child’s learning.

We hold parents evening twice a year so the parents have a chance to sit down on a one to one basis with their child’s key person to go through their learning and development, this gives the parents time to ask questions, share information and learn more about their child’s development.

The nursery holds many events throughout the year where parents, grandparents and relatives can come in and spend some time with the child; Be it an craft afternoons, Sports day or performances. We also hold many charity events, dress up days and celebrations.

The nursery is register with Ofsted and receives much praise in its inspections for the high standard of care and education that are maintained. We are currently graded Good.
